The Michigan Academy of Graduate Studies is an educational institution that delivers its programs entirely through modern distance-learning technologies. The academy first received its authorization from the State of Michigan on August 13, 2021, as a nonprofit educational entity.
In October 2024, the academy’s name was officially changed to the Michigan Academy of Science and Technology to reflect its expansion into bachelor’s and diploma programs, in addition to graduate studies.
The academy is commonly known by its acronym MAST.
On September 26, 2025, the academy relocated its operations to the State of New Mexico. This transition placed the founders before a new challenge: introducing the academy and demonstrating the quality of its programs in an educational landscape filled with both emerging institutions and longstanding ones that rely heavily on their past reputation—despite the fact that the world has shifted toward modern teaching tools, innovative learning strategies, and technology-driven approaches.
The global COVID-19 pandemic raised critical questions about traditional teaching methods and highlighted the urgent need for a contemporary online education model that empowers learners. In this model, students become the core of the learning process, while the academy serves as a supportive partner—guiding, mentoring, and helping them develop the skills and knowledge needed in today’s world.
The idea behind establishing the academy emerged from the extensive academic and technical experience of its founders, with the goal of contributing to human-capital development and enhancing youth competencies to keep pace with modern advancements across industrial and commercial sectors—whether in their home country or the diaspora.
At its heart, true education is about the ability to apply knowledge, provide meaningful services, offer professional consultations, and execute real-world projects—not simply obtaining academic degrees.
